Provence Lavender Distillation

Distillation de la Lavande de Provence

The steam distillation of true lavender (Lavandula angustifolia) from the high plateaux of Haute-Provence — the world's finest lavender essential oil, produced above 800 meters altitude where the plant's linalool content is highest. The Provence lavender distillation tradition uses mobile copper alembics that travel between farms at harvest, producing essential oil within hours of cutting. The blue-purple lavender fields of the Valensole plateau and the Luberon are among the most visually iconic landscapes in France.
